Haneda Airport 2nd of January 2024 Accident

Above - the wreckage of the Airbus plane after the accident in Japan

Unfortunately, 5 people died in the second plane involved. Only the commander survived and only in his shoes would you never want to be. They were preparing to take off to go help the victims of the earthquake...

But all the passengers of the Airbus were saved. Absolutely all of them, almost 400, were evacuated in 90 seconds and are lucky to be alive! This is primarily due to the professionalism of the crew that coordinated the evacuation. Secondly, the cooperation of the passengers - no passenger tried to take any bag from the plane and they all listened to the instructions with utmost seriousness; it can be seen in the video recordings after the evacuation, that no one has any luggage, no matter how small. They probably proceeded with the same seriousness before take-off, when they were presented by the cabin crwe with the same instructions, "for the unlikely case of an emergency". Last but not least, their survival is also due to the plane's manufacturer, Airbus.

A detailed report will follow that will establish the causes and circumstances. Today, human error is identified as the cause that led to this accident. An accident that could have had much more serious consequences, probably comparable to the biggest accident in aviation (Tenerife - March 1977), produced in similar conditions and apparently for the same reason: human error.

But with some luck, with a lot of mastery of the pilots (they managed to land the plane after the impact!!), with an extremely high level of professionalism of the entire crew, combined with the seriousness and cooperation of the passengers, all the people in the Airbus aircraft go on with their lives at this moment . The same human factor managed to transform a very likely catastrophe into an almost entirely positive outcome.

Conclusion: when flying, carefully follow the instructions for emergency situations, before take-off. In the case of a real emergency, which is statistically unlikely to happen, the chances of survival increase enormously! Flight crews are constantly preparing for complex scenarios, but only with deep cooperation can they have a positive outcome, in real situations.
